What Do Undergraduate Research Assistants Do?
Research assistants contribute to a variety of projects and activities that support the mission of the R₃ Lab.
Responsibilities vary by semester and project needs but may include:
Mentorship
Faculty Mentorship
Receive individualized guidance and support from Dr. Bernard throughout your research experience.
Mentorship may include discussions related to research involvement, academic development, and future educational and career aspirations.
Graduate Student Mentorship
Work alongside graduate student mentors who help lead the lab's research projects and provide insight into the research process, graduate school, and academic careers.

Yes!
For Psych 2950, students may earn 1-6 credit hours for completing directed tasks such as data entry/cleaning, transcription, coding, literature searching, scheduling, running participants through protocols, etc. It is expected that students will work on research-related tasks approximately 3 hours per week for every 1 credit hour of course credit.Psych 2888, is the zero credit hour equivalent.
Psych 4950 credit (1-6 hours) is reserved for more student-led original research (individually or as part of a group). There is also an expectation for students to present and communicate their scholarship in some capacity (e.g. forum, conference, publication).Psych 4888, is the zero credit hour equivalent.

Students from all majors are encouraged to apply, particularly those interested in psychology, research, mental health, education, public health, and related fields.

Dr. Bernard will only serve as a mentor for undergraduate students if they have volunteered in the lab for AT LEAST one semester.
